Biography
Michiaki Yamasaki was born and raised in Japan. He attended Tohoku University where he received a B.Eng. degree in metallurgy in 1996 and a Ph.D. degree in materials science in 2000. He has been engaged in metallurgical and materials science as university scientist and professor: Hokkaido University (2000-2001), National Institute for Materials Science (2001-2002), Kumamoto University (2002-present) and The University of Queensland (2015-2016). Now he is a professor of Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Kumamoto University. His current research interests include the development of new Mg alloys with high strength, good ductility and high corrosion-resistance, based on new multimodal microstructure design concept.
